Child seat inspection Sept. 2
Free Child Safety Seat Inspection
Event - Wed, Sept. 2nd
On Wednesday, September 2nd, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, the El Cerrito Police Department and the El Cerrito Fire Department will host a free, child safety seat check up in the Orchard Supply parking lot at 1751 Eastshore Blvd in El Cerrito. The Police and Fire Department have joined together as members of the Contra Costa County Car Seat Coalition. Through this joint effort, and in conjunction with the coalition, police and firefighters are able to check the installation of child safety seats throughout Contra Costa County. The same event was held last year, and over 40 car seat inspections were conducted.
As a reminder, the California Vehicle Code requires all children 6 years and under, and weighing less than 60 pounds, be placed in a child safety seat while in a vehicle. When children turn 6 or weigh more than 60 pounds, they might still be too small to properly fit in the vehicle’s seatbelt. A booster seat is recommended for children over six years of age. This advice and many other questions will be answered at the safety seat check up.
